Quote It!

AS came up with a great quote today in Writers' Club that inspired her.  Here it is!  Taken from the introduction by Neil Gaiman to Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, think about what this quote means to you in your own writing and reading:

"Fiction is a lie that tells us true things, over and over."

Stony Brook Writers' Club Introduction

Stony Brook Writers' Club

Meeting every Tuesday in Señorita Morris' room, B107

Welcome to the Stony Brook Writers' Club blog!  We meet each Tuesday in Señorita Morris' room, which is located across from the office (just about!).  The club runs from 1:55 until the bell rings for the late busses.  We do not meet when there is a half-day.  At the end of the year we will have a "Writers' Night" where we will invite people to come hear our work - friends and family.

What do we do in Writers' Club?  Primarily, we write!  We also discuss what we are reading, as words and ideas play such an integral part into our own works.  Every other week we will have a writing prompt, and on the other weeks we do independent writing where we work on our individual projects.  What can you write?  Whatever you'd like! In the past members have worked on science fiction, poetry, romance, and general fiction.  The choice is yours.

We do all of our writing in GoogleDocs so that you may share it with me at kmorris@westfordk12.us in order for me to comment, and also share it with others in the group, should you wish.

In this blog we'll share links that can help us with our writing, and also feature people's writing as well!
